Israel Millionaire Migration: A Changing Landscape

For years, Israel has stood out as a rare economic bright spot in a turbulent region. The country’s thriving tech sector, nicknamed Silicon Wadi, along with its vibrant culture, Mediterranean climate, and attractive tax policies, drew ambitious entrepreneurs and investors from across the globe. Between 2013 and 2022, Israel attracted a net inflow of over 10,500 high-net-worth individuals, solidifying its position as one of the world’s top destinations for millionaire migration. However, the outbreak of war in 2023 has dramatically altered Israel’s status as a magnet for the wealthy. In a stunning reversal, Israel flipped from a net inflow of 1,100 millionaires in 2022 to a net outflow of approximately 200 millionaires in 2023. This seismic shift underscores how swiftly conflict can unravel a country’s appeal to the world’s wealthy and globally mobile.   A nation under siege: Israel’s mounting risks The ongoing war has not only shattered Israel’s image…

The Great Wealth Migration Report

This year is shaping up to be a watershed moment in the global migration of wealth. As the world grapples with a perfect storm of geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and social upheaval, millionaires are voting with their feet in record numbers, seeking greener pastures and safer harbors for their assets and family interests. The conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, far from being isolated and contained battlegrounds, have drawn in major world powers, and are threatening to escalate into broader regional and possibly even global conflagrations. At the same time, growing polarization and fragmentation across many of the world’s nations is eroding social cohesion more generally, fueling a rising sense of unease and anxiety.   An unprecedented 128,000 millionaires are expected to relocate in 2024, eclipsing the previous record of 120,000 set in 2023. To put this in perspective, it's a 16% increase from the 110,000 who moved to a new…

The UAE: A Strategic Haven for High-Net-Worth Families

The UAE has solidified its position as the premier destination for high-net-worth individuals globally, with a projected net inflow of over 6700 millionaires in 2024 — more than any other country in the world. This should not come as a surprise, as the UAE has been a top contender in attracting private capital and talent for quite some time. However, since investment-based migration is increasingly driven by a confluence of economic, geopolitical, and domestic social factors, the UAE provides a reliable, safe, and appealing environment for high-net-worth families. The country's economic resilience, favorable tax policies, and world-class infrastructure, combined with its strategic location and political stability make it an ideal destination for global wealth and investment. There are multiple reasons behind the UAE’s attractiveness, such as premium real estate, investor friendly frameworks, large industrial announcements, and a highly sought-after residence by investment initiative, or Residence By Investment - Harley & Associates (citizenshiphubs.com) Strategic…

2024: A Watershed Year for Digital Assets

By Jean-Marie Mognetti,   The year 2024 is poised to be a landmark year for the cryptocurrency industry. With the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granting approval for Spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), the institutionalization of the asset class has reached a pivotal milestone. This approval is not just a regulatory endorsement; it signifies the maturation of Bitcoin as a legitimate investment vehicle, suitable for inclusion in the portfolios of traditional investors. This move by the SEC is expected to usher in a new era of mainstream acceptance and integration of cryptocurrencies into the global financial system. During the early phases, Bitcoin was not yet recognized as a distinct financial asset. The ecosystem lacked essential infrastructure — there were no custody solutions, regulated exchanges, or trading platforms, and the banking sector largely refused to engage with Bitcoin businesses. The absence of public companies in the cryptocurrency sector further highlighted…

Crypto High-Net-Worth Individuals: A Multi-Billion-Dollar Opportunity

By Henry Burrows A recent study by crypto payments service Triple A found that there are now over half a billion cryptocurrency owners worldwide. That number has attracted a lot of headlines. But the more eye-opening statistic is that an estimated 34% of 24–35 year olds globally own crypto. This age group is by far the largest cohort of crypto holders. Underlining how important crypto is for younger generations, in May 2023, FINRA Investor Education Foundation in the USA released a research study on investment trends among Gen Z, those aged 18–25. The study examined attitudes and behaviors around investing among young people in the USA, the UK, and Canada. The numbers for the UK were stark when it came to cryptocurrencies: 50% of Gen Z investors owned crypto. In the USA, the trends were similar: 55% of Gen Z investors primarily invest in crypto, rising to 57% for millennials. And this adoption is driving…

The Case for Nation-State Bitcoin Adoption in 2024 and Beyond

By Samson Mow  In 2022 I founded JAN3, a company dedicated to facilitating the journey for new countries looking to step into Bitcoin territory. This was a year after helping with El Salvador’s Bitcoin adoption process. The reasoning was simple: if Bitcoin was to fulfill its promise of becoming the world’s new reserve currency, it would be only natural for nation states to pivot towards it. Since its inception, Bitcoin has been likened to money or a commodity by any number of regulators, yet no matter their outlook, neither of these comparisons frames Bitcoin as an asset that in just a decade has attained similar status to thousand-year-old commodities such as gold or coffee. In 2024, Bitcoin ETFs trade in the same markets as these goods, while presidential candidates in the United States debate its role next to the almighty dollar in contemporary America. Although headlines of “Bitcoin going mainstream”…
